The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 54 is hosting a safe boating class Saturday at Harvey Oyer Park on Federal Highway.

The class is $20 and starts at 8 a.m. and will end about 4:30 p.m.

The PowerPoint course includes boat handling, seamanship, necessary safety equipment, docking, line handling and knot tying, as well as heavy weather running conditions, rules of the road, elementary navigation, and the new federal and state laws.

Each student will receive a certificate of completion and information will be given to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which will then give the students a “safe boating” card.

New to boating or just want to brush up on some tips?

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 54 is holding a safe-boating class Saturday at Harvey Oyer Park on Federal Highway just south of Gateway Boulevard in Boynton Beach.

The PowerPoint class runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and costs $40.

The course encompasses boat handling, seamanship, necessary safety equipment, docking, line handling and knot-tying, heavy weather running conditions, rules of the road, elementary navigation, and new federal and state laws, according to a news release.

Each student will be given a certificate of completion and the information will be forwarded to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for a safe boating card.
