DELRAY BEACH — One of Delray Beach’s own has made it big.

American Dream” by Bob Pressner, a 62-year-old rock artist who lives just west of Delray Beach, climbed Billboard’s top rock chart this week to Number 10.

Pressner recorded the song two years ago in his bedroom closet after a midnight revelation, his public relations team says. He shelved the song for years, then released a music video on YouTube on President Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day, when Pressner had realized the song reflects the divisiveness in the United States’ current political climate.

The video is made up of a compilation of protest clips and disappointed reactions to President Donald Trump’s election, with Pressner’s “American Dream” playing in the background. It has seemingly gone viral with more than 12 million views.

The video is trending in Canada, Brazil, England, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, Italy, Mexico and Israel, Pressner’s spokeswoman said.

Pressner has sold out private shows planned throughout Florida, including one Friday in Miami, according to his website.

Pressner, originally from New York, has released eight albums including the most recent release, “Everyman.” A former Wall Street commodities trader, Pressner left his day job after a truck bomb was detonated in New York City in 1993 underneath the World Trade Center, eight years before 9/11.

He now lives in the Mizner Country Club neighborhood, west of Florida’s Turnpike and south of Atlantic Avenue.
