What appeared to be dozens of law enforcement officers started the run at 9 a.m. at the corner of Hypoluxo Road and U.S. 1. They ran west on Hypoluxo to Lawrence Road and north on Lawrence to Royal Palm School.
Money for the Special Olympics Florida is raised through the sale of the Torch Run T-shirts and hats, and through local fundraising events.
The Olympics start Friday, May 19. The events are held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista.
