The Ocean Avenue bridge between Ocean Ridge and Boynton Beach over the Intracoastal Waterway will be repainted starting April 24, which means lane closures are coming.

Residents can learn about the project at a workshop Tuesday night at the Town of Ocean Ridge,  6450 N. Ocean Blvd. The workshop, held by the Florida Department of Transportation, is 4:30 pm. to 6:30 p.m. Attendees can arrive at anytime; there is no formal presentation.

Here are some details: The painting begins April 24 and is expected to end this fall; It will cost $1 million, and work is being done by Seminole Equipment, Inc., with RS&H, Inc.

  • The contractor wants to work 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily, through early fall. Lane closures would take place Monday through Saturday.
  • The contractor could also work Sundays, as needed, but not on holidays.
  • Also, in order to paint the tips of the bridge, the contractor has been approved to close the bridge for up to 10 nights. A detour route will be in place.
