BOCA RATON — The star of Academy Award-winning film “Dreamgirls” and vocal powerhouse Jennifer Hudson will headline Boca West Foundation‘s annual “Concert for the Children” on Tuesday, April 4, according to the foundation.
Hudson — who rose to fame as a finalist in FOX’s “American Idol” and has since performed on Broadway, film and television — will perform at the Amphitheater on the Great Lawn of Boca West Country Club, at 20583 Boca W. Drive.
R&B singer-songwriter Ellis Hall will open up the show, according to Boca West Foundation.
The annual concert raises money for at-risk children in southern Palm Beach County by dispersing funds to nonprofits that serve area children, including Boca Helping Hands, the Boys and Girls Club of Boca Raton and Boca Raton Children’s Museum.
“Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is our ‘dream girl’ and we are so honored that she will headline at our fundraiser, making significant impact on children in our community,” Arthur Adler, chairman of Boca West Foundation, said in a statement. “Jennifer follows superstars Patti Labelle, Jay Leno and Diana Ross as ‘Concert for the Children’ headliners at Boca West Country Club, and we expect to raise tremendous funds over our two-day event.”
Hall will open the show at 8 p.m., followed by Hudson’s performance at 9 p.m. All tickets are $200, with seats assigned by a drawn lottery.
Tickets can be purchased through the Boca West Foundation’s website, www.bocawestfoundation.org.
The concert follows the annual $200,000 Charity Golf Challenge, which will take place Monday, April 3.
