A key Boca Raton road will close temporarily for several days as crews work to prepare for the new Brightline passenger-rail service.
Palmetto Park Road will be closed at the Florida East Coast Railway tracks from 7 a.m. Feb. 17 through 6 p.m. Feb. 22 to allow workers to make improvements to the rail line, according to a Brightline news release. The FEC tracks cross Palmetto Park Road just east of the busy Dixie Highway corridor.

Boca Raton has been hit with several big road closures over the past few months as work continues on the new Interstate 95 interchange at Spanish River Boulevard. During an October closure of Yamato Road as crews worked on the Tri-Rail tracks, Boca police and the Florida Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control.
• Heading east on Palmetto Park Road: Turn left on Northwest Second Avenue and then right on Northwest Second Street. Then turn right onto Dixie Highway and left onto Palmetto Park Road.
• Heading west on Palmetto Park Road: Turn right on Dixie Highway, left on Northwest Second Street, left on Northwest Second Avenue and then right onto Palmetto Park Road.
• Use Glades Road or West Camino Real as alternate north-south routes.
Brightline began testing its first train through central Palm Beach County in mid-January, soon after the company unveiled the train set to the press at an event at Brightline’s West Palm Beach maintenance facility.
