So who read to the most children in this year’s Read for the Record?
Boynton Beach for the fourth consecutive year came in first in the large cities category in Palm Beach County.
City staff and residents read “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich” to more than 2,400 students on Oct. 27.
The city said they are “delighted” with the win.
In the small cities category, Lantana won again.
The Read for the Record event is run by Jumpstart and is a national campaign that goes back more than a decade ago to address educational inequities, according to its website. Locally, the event was organized by the Boynton Beach-based Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.
