Delray police laud citizens for helping nab criminals this weekend

delray-policeDELRAY BEACH — City police made three arrests this past weekend using tips called in by residents, according to the department’s Facebook page.

A post on the page reads: “We rely on astute residents to help us keep our city safe, so when you see something, SAY SOMETHING. It works!”

Twice within 24 hours, residents called 911 to report men tugging at car door handles, presumably to burglarize the vehicles, a problem the police department has been warning about for months.

Also within 24 hours of those calls, a resident reported a suspicious person jumping a wall and cutting through neighborhoods by foot, police said.

All three incidents resulted in arrests.
