These southern Palm Beach County interchanges will see work in coming years | Map

As part of a long-range plan to improve traffic flow along Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County, the state aims to make changes at nearly every interchange along the stretch.

What does that mean for you? Over the next 20 years, I-95 in southern Palm Beach County will begin to look a bit different.

And that’s not just because the new interchange at Spanish River Boulevard will be finished.

Here’s the list of southern Palm Beach County projects planned by the Florida Department of Transportation. Click here for the full list throughout Palm Beach County.

Glades Road: Mill, resurface and widen Glades from Butts Road to University Drive/Northwest 10 Avenue, including the bridge over Military Trail and the Tri-Rail tracks; build a ramp with a new bridge over Airport Road to accommodate traffic from westbound Glades Road onto northbound and southbound I-95; and widen bike lanes and sidewalks along Glades. Timeline: Out for bids in July 2021.

Estimated total cost: $19.6 million.

Spanish River Boulevard: New interchange being built now. Sound walls also will be built along Yamato Road and on the east side of I-95 north of Yamato Road. Timeline: Construction completed in 2017.

Estimated total cost for these and other related improvements: $69 million. FDOT project website

Linton Boulevard: Add lanes to Linton, including an eastbound auxiliary lane to the southbound I-95 on-ramp, and a westbound auxiliary lane to the northbound I-95 ramp; realign the I-95 ramps; and add a ramp lane on I-95 southbound. Timeline: Construction completed by 2019.

Estimated total cost for these and other related improvements: $23 million.

Atlantic Avenue: Add a separated right turn lane from eastbound Atlantic onto southbound I-95; and widen the northbound I-95 entrance ramp. Timeline: Construction to begin in summer 2018 and take 16 months.

Estimated total cost for these and other related improvements: $13 million.

Woolbright Road: Widen the northbound I-95 on-ramp; rebuild the southbound I-95 off-ramp to add a free-flow right-turn lane onto westbound Woolbright; update the railings on the Woolbright bridges over I-95 and the railroad tracks; and install barrier walls, curbs, sidewalks, guardrails and lighting. Timeline: Completed next summer.

Estimated total construction cost: $9.1 million. FDOT project website

Boynton Beach Boulevard: Alternatives being considered in this study would add lanes to Boynton Beach Boulevard, including the bridges over the Tri-Rail tracks and I-95. Timeline: Study completed in late 2017.

Estimated total cost for these and other related improvements: $20 million. FDOT project website

Gateway Boulevard: Alternatives being considered in this study would add lanes and expand the northbound I-95 off-ramp to Gateway; widen Gateway near the interchange; and make improvements to several nearby intersections to the east and west of the interchange. Timeline: Study completed in late 2017.

Estimated total cost: $53.5 million. FDOT project website

Hypoluxo Road: Build dual eastbound left turn lanes onto I-95; widen the southbound I-95 off-ramp and make the turn lanes longer; and install barrier walls, curbs, sidewalks, lighting and retaining walls. Timeline: Completed in summer 2017.

Lantana Road: Widen Lantana Road overpass and add a left turn lane from eastbound Lantana to the northbound I-95 on-ramp; extend dual left turn lanes through the southbound I-95 southbound ramps to westbound Lantana; add a lane to eastbound Lantana from the northbound I-95 ramps to 13th Street; add a lane to westbound Lantana from the southbound I-95 ramps to west of Sunset Road; widen the southbound I-95 off-ramp; add a free-flow right-turn lane to the westbound to northbound on-ramp; add an auxiliary lane to the northbound I-95 on-ramp; and widen the northbound I-95 off-ramp. Timeline: Study scheduled to begin in 2018.

Estimated total cost: $29.2 million.
