BOCA RATON — The Boca Raton Police Department is collected unused and unwanted prescription pills at the 12th annual Prescription Drug Take-Back on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Each year, the department holds the event in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, residents can drop off any prescription mediation they want to discard.

The DEA launched the national drug take-back program to give people a “safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs,” while also providing educational material about prescription medication abuse.

The Boca Raton Police Department, at 100 NW Boca Raton Blvd, is a designated collection site in Palm Beach County, meaning anyone can use the pill drop at the department to dispose of prescription pills during business hours.

A Walgreens Pharmacy in western Boca Raton, at 21880 N State Rd 7, is another area pill drop-off, according to the Palm Beach County Substance Awareness Coalition.
