Coast Guard offers safe-boating class in Boynton Beach

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 54 is hosting a safe-boating class Saturday.

It is a PowerPoint class from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Harvey Oyer Park on Federal Highway.

The course, which costs $40, encompasses boat handling, seamanship, necessary safety equipment, docking, line-handling and knot-tying, heavy weather running conditions, rules of the road, elementary navigation, and new federal and state laws.

Each student will be given a certificate of completion and the information will be forwarded to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for a safe boating card.
