Calling all poets: The microphone at a Deerfield Beach pub is yours for taking this weekend at an annual poetry reading where artists call for change using spoken word.

The American Rocks Bar and Grill is hosting the “6th Annual Global 100 Thousand Poets and Musicians for Change” event Saturday, Sept. 24 in coordination with 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a nonprofit that advocates for poetry and music education. The free open-mic style event is one of more than 800 taking place globally that evening, according to event coordinators.

Poets are invited to perform pieces centered around promoting “social, political and environmental” change across the planet. Between readings, musicians will perform pieces also dedicated to those topics.

Attendees must be at least 21 years old.
