DELRAY BEACH — Joan Quinn is one of the most photographed, painted and sculpted people in contemporary art history, according to Delray’s Cornell Art Museum, which debuts a collection of works honoring Quinn this week.

The exhibit, called “Who is Joan Quinn? A life in portraits,” opens Friday, Sept. 23 and features more than 70 portraits created in tribute of Quinn by several contemporary artists.

Quinn is known for work in art and fashion journalism, most notably her position as West Coast correspondent for Andy Warhol’s “Interview” magazine during the 1980s. She also hosted a television show called “The Joan Quinn Profiles.” Artists used several mediums to portray Quinn as an art collector and advocate.

The exhibit, free to the public, is curated by Delray Beach resident Melanie Johanson. Among the artists whose works are contributed are Peter Alexander, Charles Arnoldi, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mike Chearney and Andy Warhol’s assistant, Rupert Jasen Smith. The works will be on display until Jan. 15, 2017.

Along with the exhibit, Quinn herself will host an event at the Delray Beach museum on Nov. 7 to share tales of working with famed contemporary artists and her career as an art journalist.

“She has danced with Andy Warhol at a party; she has traveled with Jean-Michel Basquiat; she remains close with David Hockney,” reads a statement from the museum. “Guests will experience the contemporary art world through Joan’s eyes, and be connected to a vibrant circle of characters.”

The event begins at 6 p.m. and costs $15.
