DELRAY BEACH — Several will gather along the coast of Delray Beach on Saturday, Sept. 17 with a common goal — to keep the shorelines free of trash and debris.
That Saturday is International Coastal Cleanup Day, and several Palm Beach County coastal municipalities will join in the collective cleanup efforts. Volunteers in Delray Beach will meet at The Sandoway Discovery Center, at 142 S. Ocean Blvd, at 8 a.m. for a group beach cleanup.
Participants will be provided with supplies and can earn community service hours, according to coordinators from Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful, the nonprofit coordinating the beach cleanups.
Another cleanup will be held at a park just west of the city that. Volunteers will meet at West Delray Regional Park at 8 a.m. to clean the trails.
Others throughout the county will be picking up trash at beaches in North Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Tequesta, Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, Jupiter and Juno Beach.
