Looking for outing ideas in southern Palm Beach County this weekend. Here are a few happenings in the Delray Beach and Boca Raton areas:

» First game of the season. Florida Atlantic University football is back this Saturday with a game against Southern Illinois. Head to the stadium at the university’s Boca Raton campus early for tailgating. For tickets, go to fausports.com. The stadium is at 777 Glades Rd.

» Silent disco? Several will gather Thursday night at the Fieldhouse at Old School Square in Delray Beach and share in some music — but it won’t be playing out loud. The gimmick of silent discos is that everyone wears headphones while listening to the same music. A Palm Beach Post reporter checked one out in Miami and recommends it. The begins at 9 p.m. and costs $15 per person at the door. Old School Square is at 51 N Swinton Ave

» Open mic night. Delray’s Dada restaurant will have its regular Open Mic Night on Labor Day. If you’re courageous, get up and sing or tell a few jokes. Otherwise, just enjoy the local talent, food and drinks. The event starts at 10 p.m. Dada is at 52 N Swinton Ave.
