Golfers at western Boca Raton’s Osprey Point Golf Course will soon have a haven from the heat as plans move forward to build a café in the existing pro shop.

The Palm Beach County Commission approved the renovation plan Wednesday morning. It calls for the expansion of the 2,000-square-foot pro shop at Osprey Point, a public, county-run course on Glades Road west of State Road 7, to add a café that offers seating, according to Paul Connell, the county’s director of special facilities.

“This will give our golfers a place to cool down, escape the heat and have a bite to eat and something to drink,” Connell said. The $1.9 million renovation, which will be funded through golf course revenue, is its preliminary stage, so it isn’t yet clear what the café will serve.

The café will seat up to 100 patrons and will include a patio overlooking the lake and the 27-hole course, Connell said.
