Looking for something to do this weekend in the Delray Beach area?
Here are a couple of happenings:
» Art walk. It’s the first Friday of the month, folks. That means several galleries in the city’s downtown, Pineapple Grove and Artist’s Alley will be open for viewing as part of Delray’s free monthly “Art Walk” series. Navigate your way through the many galleries Friday evening while shopping and dining. For more details and for a list of participating galleries, visit http://www.downtowndelraybeach.com/FirstFridayArtWalk.
» Aliens among us? On Friday night, The Crest Theater at Old School Square is hosting a live audio play of Ed Woods’ “Plan 9 From Outer Space,” a 1959 science-fiction film — known for being unintentionally hilarious — about alien grave robbers who attempt to turn the world’s dead into zombies. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for students and can be purchased here. Crest Theater is at 51 N Swinton Ave.
» Fitness in the park. Delray Marketplace, west of the city, hosts a free turbo fitness session the first Sunday of every month in the plaza’s amphitheater. The course begins at 10 a.m. and is hosted by a local crossfit coach. Afterward, you can shop or stop for lunch at the many restaurants in the shopping center. Delray Marketplace is at 14851 Lyons Rd.
