You can now be the first to buy pre-sale tickets to the popular Lantern Fesitval at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.
Not a bad idea seeing as tickets to last year’s event sold out in a record 13 days.
The event will be held at in the gardens at Morikami, 4000 Morikami Park Rd, on Saturday, Oct. 15. Members of the museum can secure early bird tickets, which went on sale Monday, until Aug. 31 by going to the museum’s website. Member tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Beginning September 1, general admission tickets will be available until they sell out. They cost $16 for adults and $11 for children.
The 39-year-old festival celebrates centuries-old Japanese customs with folk dances, sake stations and thousands of paper lanterns lit and floating on a pond in the tranquil Japanese gardens. The festival honors Obon, a Japanese Buddhist celebration of ancestors who are guided back the realm of the living through lit lanterns.
