Over the past five years, Whole Foods Market in Boca Raton has donated 500,000 pounds of food to Boca Helping Hands, a nonprofit food center.

Whole Foods reached the milestone Thursday, according to the nonprofit. Five percent of the store’s sales on Thursday also went to Boca Helping Hands.

The food center, at 1500 NW 1st Court, offers hot lunches three days a week and gives bags of groceries to disadvantaged families. Meals are also delivered to disabled and elderly individuals.

“We’re proud to be one of Boca Helping Hands’ key community partners and are SO excited to celebrate that we have provided 384,615 meals to local families,” wrote Whole Foods Market on Facebook.
