Eight seconds. A traffic light at South Federal Highway and Southeast 23rd Avenue in Boynton Beach was red for 8.3 seconds when a driver drove through it.
The driver of a beige Kia Sorento drove through the intersection in May and hit the rear driver’s side of a red Nissan Maxima. The Nissan driver had minor injuries, according to a post Tuesday on the Boynton Beach Police Facebook page.
Boynton Beach Police post these videos taken by the red light cameras.
“In our ongoing effort to keep you safe and informed, our Traffic Unit will be sharing videos of red light camera violations on a regular basis. We hope that these videos create a constructive dialogue about the dangers of distracted driving. We all need to slow down, put the cell phones down and pay attention to everything going on around us. Lives depend on it,” according to a post on the Boynton Beach Police Facebook page.
