Boynton Beach had a successful fishing tournament and firehouse chili cook-off in April, and on Friday the fire chief and other fire and union personnel gave the city’s Kiwanis Club the event’s $8,000 in proceeds.

The Kiwanis Club of Boynton Beach was chartered in 1948 and sponsors leadership programs at Crosspointe Elementary and St. Mark’s Catholic School in Boynton Beach and initiatives such as Bring Up Grades (BUG) and Terrific Kids programs, designed to promote personal and academic growth in schools, according to a news release from the city.

There were more than 100 boats and hundreds of anglers at the Boynton Beach Firefighter Benevolent Fishing Tournament and Firehouse Chili Cook-off in April. The event is in its eleventh year.
