Have you noticed there’s something on top of Lantana’s 127-foot water tower on Lantana Road at the former A.G. Holley State Hospital site?
Well, the tower rehab has started. And the structure is there as part of the sandblasting process.
The water tower will be a prominent part of the incoming Water Tower Commons retail and residential development, owned by the developer — Lantana Development LLC. Lantana Development is is a partnership between Southeast Legacy, headed by Kenco Communities’ Ken Endelson, and Wexford Capital.
Sandblasting the tower will show any metal pieces needing repair, said Mike Langolf, of Southeast Legacy. The tower will be painted white. The whole process should take about five months, he said.
Also, crews are relocating about 60 trees on the property to buffer areas and to the center area of the development.
It is unclear when construction on the commercial part of the project will begin. The residential phase will begin after the commercial.
