ORIGINAL POST: Health officials have issued a “No Swimming” advisory for Lantana Beach after recent samples showed “poor” levels of enterococcus bacteria, according to a news release.
The tests showed 120 colonies per 100 milliliters of marine water at the beach.
The exact cause of the elevated level of bacteria isn’t known at the time, but it could be because of wildlife, heavy recreational usage, high surf, high tides, or runoff following heavy rains, according to the release.
The Dubois Park Wading Lagoon has also been issued a “No Swimming” advisory. Test results showed 130 colonies per 100 milliliters of marine water.
