The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 36 and the parents of Austin Stephanos, one of the two Tequesta teens lost at sea last July, are teaming up to help boaters.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 36 is hosting a safe-boating class Saturday, April 2, at Spanish River Park.

The class is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and topics include boating terminology, boat handling, navigation rules, aids to navigation, federal and state regulations, and safety equipment.

Everyone who completes the class is given a certificate and will be sent a Florida Boating ID card. The class is normally $35, but is being funded by the AustinBlu Foundation, and is held in the headquarters building of the park, 3939 N. Ocean Blvd.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch. For information or to RSVP, email or email fso-pe@cgauxboca.org or call 561-391-3600.
