New to boating or just want to brush up on some tips?
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 54 is holding a safe-boating class Saturday at Harvey Oyer Park on Federal Highway just south of Gateway Boulevard in Boynton Beach.
The PowerPoint class runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and costs $40.
The course encompasses boat handling, seamanship, necessary safety equipment, docking, line handling and knot-tying, heavy weather running conditions, rules of the road, elementary navigation, and new federal and state laws, according to a news release.
Each student will be given a certificate of completion and the information will be forwarded to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for a safe boating card.
To enroll, call Sandy Meridy at 561-704-7440 or 561-734-2244. The Flotilla number is 561-331-2429.
